Replacement 4 inch square speaker to fit most brands of drive-in speakers. This is an 8 ohm speaker.
This speaker works well for those speakers that use screws to hold the speaker in place. This speaker can be used in those applications where they are held in place by a spring or pad if you add a spacer to the back of the magnet.
A fortunate buy allows me to offer these speakers at a very good price.
They are better than original.
Front and back shown. Order quantity is for one each.
A note about thickness. The 50's through 70's style speakers were 2 inches thick. Most modern speakers use a round magnet and are thinner.
These are 1-3/8ths inches thick and can be used in any speaker that used a spring or pad to hold the speaker by adding a 1/2 inch thick wooden block to the back of the magnet. If you ask when ordering, I can supply a round wooden spacer block with the speaker. Just add a drop of glue to the back of the magnet and stick the spacer on it.
Koropp, Eprad, and Simplex speakers used a spring to hold the speaker in place. This is where you would need the spacer.
RCA, CBX, and the R-Drive-ins speakers used screws and do not need the spacer.
Reed speakers used a small foam pad and you might have to add some more shims to get this speaker to be held tightly.
I have a large quantity of these on hand.
4 inch square speakers of a decent quality at a reasonable cost are getting harder to find.
